I gave a lot of thought really to what she would be wearing. Her dress is much more 1964 than it is 1962. And I reasoned that her character would have known the dress designer Rudi Gernreich who lived in Los Angeles in 1962 and was about to invent pop art in clothes. And I love her pink cigarettes. She’s based quite a lot on my grandmother who always had pink cigarettes. They’re hard to find now.
